This is an original 6”x 8” oil painting on Arches oil paper. It was done in the “alla prima” tradition, since it was started and finished in one pass.
These little paintings are what I love to do. They are distillations of all the elements that go into making a painting, but without any fluff. They are wild and free, created on hikes, in the mountains, in the rivers, and sometimes, on the side of the road. They are my version of a travel journal. This one in particular was done in the studio using a still life of a couple seashells I’ve collected at the beach, as well as a fig from my buddies tree.
